Yesterday was probably the hottest day I have ever experienced in my life! I am surprised I survived it. I believe the heat with the humidity and all that it was about 46 degrees. I would walk for 30 seconds and be sweating like I just ran a marathon, and I was told that wasn't even that hot, apparently it gets hotter! Anyway, so yesterday I wandered around, looked at some shops and then took out my camera and snapped some pictures, which I will put up later. There is this art exhibit going on in Times Square, which is about a 2 minute walk from my apartment, and they have statues made out of old tires and stuff, its really cool! After taking pictures it was getting to hot for me, so I stopped by Joe's cafe and hung out there for awhile. I left my camera there and me and Judy, Joe's wife, went out and bought Joe a cake (we went for his birthday supper yesterday, but his birthday is today). After that, she showed me around this area where its streets and streets of different shops and stuff, it was really cool. We went buy an area that was all designer, chanel, louis vuitton, miu miu and all that stuff! After shopping around for awhile, me, Joe, Judy, Judy's sister Yumee, her husband Andy, and his sister and brother, (I don't remember their names), went out for supper for Joe's birthday at a Nepal restaurant. To my surprise it was actually quite tasty! After that me Joe and Judy walked around the area for a bit and then went home! Here are some fun facts I learned yesterday about Hong Kong:
1. "Cold" in Hong Kong is about 15 degrees... I would say shorts weather at home in GP? ;)
2. Nobody drives a crappy vehicle, they just seem not to exist here. Most people roll around in a Mercedes Benz, no big deal right? Also, I have seen Ferrari's and last night a Maserati, they were soo nice!
3. All of the Nissan vehicles I have seen here so far do not exist in Canada
4. They drive on the other side of the vehicle
5. They do not stop for pedestrians, so you have to look both ways before you cross, for real, or you'll get flattened.
6. Since they don't stop for vehicles, before you cross the road, if you look down, it says "Look Right" or "Look Left", whichever pertains to the way the traffic goes!
7. There is more shopping here than you could ever imagine, everywhere you go there are stores and you could be in an area with old buildings and areas where it isn't the nicest, then BAM, there's a brand new Levi's store right in between.
8. They have double decker buses here, its cool
9. The last one I can think of for now.... You know how in GP the police drive those older, long white cars that no one else but the police drive? Yea, well here in Hong Kong, the police all drive Mercedes Benz's!! What the heck right?!
